Dr Genie Diaz is a Specialist Periodontist with over 20 years of experience in promoting healthy smiles for both children and adults. She completed her Bachelor of Dental Science at the University of Queensland in 2007, followed by her specialist qualification in Periodontics at the University of Sydney in 2014.
Before entering private practice, Dr Diaz served in the Royal Australian Air Force, gaining extensive clinical experience across multiple locations in Australia.
In 2018, she and her young family settled in Darwin, where they enjoy the warmth and relaxed lifestyle of the Territory. Beyond her clinical work, Dr Diaz is passionate about community oral health education. She is the author of Teeth Don’t Play Basketball, a children’s book that uses humour and storytelling to make dental care fun and accessible for young readers (she is ever hopeful that the next generation will not require her services through early prevention of periodontal disease!). Her approach — both in the clinic and in her writing — focuses on prevention, gentle care, and empowering her patients (and their families) to maintain lifelong oral health.

Dr Sonia Huang is a board-certified specialist periodontist from Canada, who was drawn to the adventurous outdoors and the welcoming lifestyle of The Territory. She has practised periodontics for several years in Western Canada before relocating to Australia. While she is already a practising dentist in Australia, her Canadian periodontics credentials are currently undergoing formal recognition in Australia.
Sonia completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery, as well as her specialty training in Periodontology and Masters of Science degree at the University of Toronto. She received numerous awards during her undergraduate and graduate training, including the J.G. Bourassa Cup, which recognizes the most outstanding member of the graduating class on the basis of academic proficiency and extracurricular involvements. She was awarded the Alpha Omega Postdoctoral Education Research Grant and the prestigious Canadian Institutes of Health Research Graduate Scholarship in support of her Masters research in oral probiotics. During her specialty training, she worked part-time in private clinics and served as a clinical instructor at the University of Toronto.
Sonia has frequently volunteered her time in the Northern regions of Canada and Guatemala to provide comprehensive dental care in rural communities.
She has lectured at study clubs and local continuing education events, where she enjoys sharing her knowledge with fellow professionals.

Sonia has a special interest in the treatment of gum recession, rehabilitation of periodontal health by preserving natural dentition, and the use of dental implants to replace missing teeth. She values good communication, and ensures her patients are comfortable, well-informed and involved in their treatment.
Outside of work, Sonia enjoys running, hiking, painting, travelling, and cooking with her friends and family.
Dr Deon Naicker completed his dental training at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa.
Upon relocation to Australia, Dr Deon was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in 2014. He later on completed 3 years of advanced full-time training at the University of Adelaide, and qualified a Specialist Endodontist (Root Canal Specialist).
Dr Deon stays abreast of the latest developments in endodontics and uses the most advanced equipment and techniques for his patients.
Dr Deon successfully combines his private practice in Adelaide with his commitments at Adelaide Dental Hospital, and also maintains a visiting practice in the Northern Territory.
